Expectations if you're in Velocity:
- You're sending thoughtful daily updates to someone. It could be a friend in TKS or it could be to me, but send it to someone. Send daily updates for 10 weeks before creating your own cadence.
- You're working hard on your Focus. Each week you should make progress in your focus by building things, learning, and making content.
- You're putting effort into developing relationships with others at TKS. This means you are taking initiatives to make plans, start brain dates, and engage other people. Don't wait for them to come to you. Reach out to people and build relationships with as many people as possible. Post about other people's success and give shoutouts to people who are doing awesome things. Build the a positive community around you.
- You're working out. You're either working on strength training or cardio consistently (3 days/week).
- You're completing the weekly requirements. Doing these requirements also means internalizing the main takeaways. Everything you read, listen, or watch has an important takeaway that I want you to get from it, so make sure you spend time thinking about it and making notes about what you learned that you want to remember.
- You're meeting someone every week. This includes identifying the person, setting up a meeting with them, sending a calendar invite, and preparing for the meeting.
- You're having engaging weekly TKSquad discussions. This means every week you're setting up a meeting with your squad and discussing the requirements and things you're working on. You should be prepared for the discussion and add value.
- You're filling out your weekly tracker. Self explanatory.
- You're sending monthly newsletters. At the end of each month, you send an engaging newsletter to your network that outlines what you worked on this month and what you learned. You can also include things like interesting podcasts, readings, books, etc. This is building your personal brand. Make it engaging and valuable for your reader!
- You're constantly listening to podcasts. Instead of listening to music or watching low-value YouTube videos, listen to podcasts with smart people talking about high value things. Get in the habit of surrounding yourself with smart people, even if it's only through headphones.
- You're learning about the person of the week. Make sure you understand the person's views and learnings. Don't look into when they were born or where they grew up - that's useless. Focus on what you can learn from them.
- You're developing TKS mindsets (e.g. boss mentality, bias towards action...). By June, if it's clear that you don't have boss mentality, then you failed. Build up your confidence. Love yourself. You need to have control over your life, and stop letting other people control you. Create the mental foundation to become a unicorn 🦄.
- You're leaving a strong impression on people. Whenever you meet someone, you should make sure you leave an impression on them. This could be by teaching them something new, showing/telling them about what you're working on, and asking thoughtful questions. Be enthusiastic and authentic. People should remember you.
- You're always on the ball. If you say you will do something, you do it. If someone messages you on slack or sends you can email, you get back to them right away. You get sh*t done. People can rely and trust you because they know they can count on you. You don't let people down and you clearly put in the work.
- You're inspiring others. You need to be someone that other people can look up to. If nobody looks up to you, then how are you going to lead people in the future? Develop yourself into someone who can inspire others.
These things are not "TKS" things, they are habits to optimize your life. Develop these habits early.
