Playbook: Pre-Meeting Emails

šŸ”‘
If you have a meeting with a legit person, use this playbook.

Purpose:

You want to give background information before having a meeting with a legit person. They don't have much time, so they probably know little about you. Legit people also want to know why they are spending time with you. What's the purpose of the call/meeting? In your email, you want to:

  • Legitimize yourself
  • Show that you're enthusiastic about the industry
  • Demonstrate that you've put in the work
  • Clearly outline the main priorities for the call/meeting

Subject: Looking forward to our call tomorrow!

Hi Bryan,

I'm really excited to chat with you tomorrow, and I thought I would just give you more of background on myself and my ideas before our meeting tomorrow!

I’m super interested in the Brain Computer Interface space, as I think it will have huge impacts in our future.I have spent countless late-nights reading research papers and books. I've also built a few projects, including turning music on and off with my brain, and controlling a remote control car with brain waves. I am now working on controlling a Virtual Reality game with BCI inputs. I was sponsored by Microsoft for Brain Computer Interface development, and am speaking at the CDO Summit in New York in May.

The reason I am so interested about BCIs is because it will SIGNIFICANTLY impact the future. I hope to play a major role in advancing the industry.

I wanted to reach out to you because Kernel is one of the few BCI companies that exist and are making an actual impact, and after listening to a few of your talks, I was fascinated and wanted to reach out to learn even more!

I have 2 main priorities that I want to chat about during our call:

  1. Advice on how I can catalyze my personal development and learning in the BCI space, as it is super new and it can sometimes be difficult to get involved. Since I'm 14 years old, it's difficult to find the guidance and resources to support my learning.
  2. Understand how you think the future looks like with Brain Computer Interfaces in 5 years, 10 years and 20 years. How will this industry evolve and where are the more exciting opportunities?

Thank you so much for your support and I'm looking forward to chatting with you!

Sincerely,

Ananya
