Playbook: Personal Websites

🔑
Having a personal website is great for building your personal brand. When someone Google's your name, your website should be the first thing that comes up. The earlier you build it, the better SEO you'll get (i.e. appear at the top of Google search).

Good Templates

I recommend you find your own template/style that matches your personality.

Below are examples of templates that you could use:

Best Practices

  • A high quality picture of you should show up first.
  • If you don't have a high quality pic, take one.
  • Try to get a .com domain
    • Retailmenot.com has good coupon codes for GoDaddy (hosting and website).
      • If you don't know what hosting is, youtube it and figure it out.
  • Be casual, not professional. Show who YOU are.
  • Add logos of companies you've worked with, not just text.
  • Highlight what you've done through a portfolio section.
  • Make sure your portfolio links to an internal page describing the project.
  • Only add interesting things, don't overload your website.
